CBI expands probe at 12 places : multiple CBI officials at Firhad and Madan's residence

• After Firhad Hakim, CBI raids Madan Mitra's house, personnels arrived around 9.30am 
• Security personnel and central forces were positioned outside the mayor's residence in Chetla
• The CBI is also investigating corruption in  important municipalities, including Kanchrapadocha Municipal Corporation and Halishahar Municipal Corporation

On the basis of Civic recruitment corruption case, CBI raids Mayor Firhad Hakim's house, on Monday morning, it is reported that he is still inside the house. It is said that some members of the Central Investigation agency have entered the house. However, Firhad's security personnel are also surrounded in front of his Chetla's house.

Besides, there are huge central forces outside the house. Meanwhile, Firhad followers have gathered in front of his house. From there they started giving slogans in solidarity.

TMC legislator Madan Mitra's house was also raided in south Kolkata in connection with a recruitment scam that allegedly took place at multiple civic bodies between 2014 and 20018, officials of the federal agency said.

To investigate the municipal appointment corruption, at present CBI has also visited the house of former municipal heads of Kanchrapadocha Municipal Corporation and Halishahar Municipal Corporation, two important municipalities under Beejpur Assembly Centre, Sudhama Rai and Anghikuman Rai respectively.

A four-member CBI team is conducting the investigation at the house of former Municipal Chief Sudham Rai of Kanchrapapadoha area in Dangapada area, while another team of  CBI is conducting the investigation at the house of former Municipal Chief Anghiman Rai of Halishahar Municipality on Halishahar Railway Boundary Road.

Both Hakim and Mitra were arrested by CBI in May, 2021 in the Narada scam. They were later released on bail.
